042 Revolution Fan Podcast – Fear and Loathing

S02E14-Fear-and-LoathingIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn and Shelley talk about Revolution season 2, episode 14, Fear and Loathing. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journals, and talk about the next episode.

Tom and Shelley appeared on episode 48 of Revolution Diaries during the Olympic Break.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • The episode title, Fear and Loathing is named from the book Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, especially how half of this episode takes place in New Vegas.
  • Shelley liked that the cage was an octagon. Tom thought it was only a hexagon.podcast-150x150
  • Jenn says Monroe’s self-sacrifice was really for Monroe’s own benefit. “Make the Monroe Republic matter.”
  • We liked the Charlie / Duncan dynamic. Duncan is not a nice person but it was cool that she gave five mercenaries to Charlie.
  • We have a quick aside about diamonds again, and how the key to Charlie’s 8-foot chain was too close…
  • Miles would know about Monroe’s blind spot.
  • The Timberlake vs. Fatone and Baldwin brothers lines were funny.
  • We talked about the use of “dick” on NBC at 8 PM. Tom found this link that where someone said Ben called someone a dick on Felicity around the year 2000. It is also rated “TV 14 DLV” which helps. We aside to sexual situations versus violence in fiction.
  • In this week’s Revolution Revealed, Giancarlo Esposito liked how when confronted he did tell the truth about Julia being alive and held by the Patriots.
  • There were extra Aaron’s Journals during the Olympic Break. There was Bucket List where he talks about accomplishing 74 of the 100 things he wanted to do in four short years. He also makes a new list for current times. There was also Locked In talking about watching TV and hurting Priscilla.
  • This week’s Aarons Journal is called Save Us where Aaron did have the plan to give a virus to the nanites. Don’t they “hear his thinks”? He should not be able to keep any secrets from them like this.
  • We are going to suspend disbelief regarding Aaron’s programming, no compiling, debugging or testing, and how it damages the nanites more and more as he is typing.
  • When they can tell he is trying to damage them, why don’t the nanites just turn off the computer instead of blowing up the lights?
  • Aaron wakes up at 6:30 AM on March 5th, 2014. Is the skyline Milwaukee?

In terms of Kill Count, Charlie killed 2. All the consecutive kill streaks are over; Neville had a long streak of episodes of killing at least one person.

The next three episode titles are: Dreamcatcher March 5, 2014, Exposition Boulevard March 12, 2014, Why We Fight March 19, 2014.

“Dreamcatcher” is a Stephen King book title. This seems like a “flash-sideways” or an alternate reality. We talk about how they will take this plot line. Will they continue it? We’re really looking forward to next week’s episode. Dr. Horn, Nora, and perhaps other “undead” characters will return.

041 Revolution Fan Podcast – Happy Endings

S02E13-Happy-EndingsIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn, Shelley and Rob talk about Revolution season 2, episode 13, Happy Endings. We talk about Revolution Revealed and Aaron’s Journal, read and talk about your feedback, and talk about the next episode.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • Tom loved the way the show started, resolving three issues that seemed hard to fix. They fixed them in an instant.
  • In recent shows we mentioned a couple of subjects that came up. Last week we talked about not having seen any religion in the show. Two weeks ago Rob and I talked about having a heist like in Ocean’s 11. We got both this week.
  • Neville was pretty smart to negotiate with the President to get Jason out of prisonpodcast-150x150
  • We liked Miles and Monroe’s “date night.” We talked a little bit about drive-ins.
  • Is Neville really going to try to kill Monroe? We think yes, but Jenn thinks Neville’s plan will become known, and the Neville’s will join team Miles.
  • Jenn and Shelley are OK with Miles and Rachel being together. They still weren’t really sure that this was their first time together in 20 years.
  • Jenn thought Duncan was going to turn out to be a woman.
  • We talked about Connor’s unsuccessful flirting with Charlie. Charlie’s reactions were really funny.
  • We talk about Charlie and Connor hooking up. We also really liked Monroe’s reaction. Rob didn’t believe Monroe’s reaction.
  • We disagree again about the “he killed Danny” topic again. He didn’t do it personally but he was responsible.
  • In this week’s Revolution Revealed, David Lyons (the actor who plays Monroe), when talking about how the Connor Charlie hookup was wrong, says, “That’s Miles dau…, that’s Charlie…” Tom really thinks this is a slip-up where David Lyons know backstory that Miles is Charlie’s father.
  • This leads to a discussion about soap operas / melodrama. Rob would like the show better if they don’t have the melodramatic stuff, but Shelley thinks it will lose viewers. Jenn relates it to the Walt Whitman poem scene from Good Will Hunting.
  • Peter is a healer in Lubbock, Texas. Jenn talks about cognitive dissonance–Peter has such a strong belief that it is impossible to see and incorporate evidence contrary to his beliefs.
  • Tom disagrees with the others on whether Peter believes Aaron about nanotechnology.
  • We review Aaron’s recent story. What was Grace’s point of being there and then leaving? Were the nanites talking to Peter? Jenn thinks Peter might incorporate God into the nanites and his faith, as in “God is controlling the nanites and I am their conduit.” Jenn and Rob think it would be great if they move that way.
  • Aaron’s Journal this week is called Peter. Aaron talks about the different acts of his life, and how this “fourth act” is bringing Priscilla back to him. He doesn’t want to be around for Peter’s last act when the nanites turn on him.
  • Jenn thinks the Aaron story is like a completely different show than all the other sub-plots. But she also thinks Aaron is going to have to bring in the nanites to defeat the Patriots. This reminds Rob of the Greatest American Hero.
  • We liked the heist. It made us think of Ocean’s Eleven and Leverage.
  • Jenn is wondering what will happen when Connor and Jason realize that each other like Charlie. Or bring back Adam the bounty hunter. It could be like The Dating Game.
  • We weren’t really happy about the title, Happy Endings. It just didn’t seem to fit. No one ended in a happy or ironic place.
  • For Kill Count, Miles killed 1, which ties our record low regular kills.

We read an email from Robert Kearney. He mentioned Steven Tyler and Bret Michaels.

We read an email from Debbie Pyle. She talked about the antidotes that Rachel left for the Patriots. She mentioned something from the preview from the next episode where the nanites say they are dying.

The next episode, Fear and Loathing will air on February 26th. Monroe is forced to fight Connor. Jenn thinks Charlie and Duncan will help rescue Monroe and Connor.

040 Revolution Fan Podcast – Captain Trips

S02E12-Captain-TripsIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn, Shelley and Rob talk about Revolution season 2, episode 12, Captain Trips. We talk about Revolution Revealed and Aaron’s Journal, play and talk about your feedback, and talk about next week’s episode.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • Rob would love to see the nanites project Cynthia to both Aaron and Priscilla and have petulance of them walking together to Lubbock, Texas. Everyone else argues about that.
  • In this week’s Aaron’s Journal called Jonah, Aaron is opposite of his thoughts during the episode where he is mad at them
  • Are they going to have happy endings next week, based on next week’s episode title. podcast-150x150
  • Whether Jason is dead. Tom thinks a character that large would not be killed offscreen.
  • We talked about the show title Revolution again, and what does that mean, season 1 against the Monroe Republic and season 2 against the Patriots. Is it really what the show is about, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer?
  • In this week’s Revolution Revealed, they talked about Victor Doyle, and how we haven’t seen the last of him.
  • We talked a little about Miles, and if he is still the “lead” character of the show.
  • We talked about Beethoven’s 7th Symphony that was playing on the record player.
  • Shelley called it exactly suggesting a culling in Willoughby.
  • We talked about “freshly squeezed typhus” and the oranges. What did Gene and Charlie do with theirs? Why didn’t they mention the oranges coming into town at all?
  • It doesn’t look good right now for Julia, Neville, Jason, Connor and Gene.
  • The Revolution Revealed said Neville was going to meet someone he’s been waiting to meet for a long, long time. Could it be the Patriot President that we only saw in shadows at the end of Season 1?
  • Last week’s Revolution Revealed was called Husband and Father.

We played a voicemail from T, @DoctorJasonCole on Twitter. He asks about what Monroe and Connor hope to build. Will Monroe stay on the protagonist side? This led to a discussion about what the best possible government for a post-apocalyptic world. Could we have a democracy like the United States built in the late 1700s? This brought us Stephen King’s The Stand. It is interesting that none of the Republics have been led by religious governments yet like there was in a lot of human history.

We didn’t really get any good answers and no real good questions except what is in Lubbock Texas.

039 Revolution Fan Podcast – Mis Dos Padres

S02E11-Mis-Dos-PadresIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn, Shelley and Rob talk about Revolution season 2, episode 11, Mis Dos Padres. We talk about Revolution Revealed, play, read and talk about your feedback. and talk about next week’s episode.

Tom listened to an episode of the podcast TV Write Now with interviews with writer/producers David Rambo and Paul Grellong. Stephen King is a Revolution fan.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  •  On the Aaron / nanite story, we had the correct Daddy but we got the Mommy wrong.podcast-150x150
  •  How is this different from God? How about Arthur C. Clarke’s quote “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
  • Did they kill Cynthia and have Priscilla’s husband leave her so that Aaron and Priscilla could get back together? Tom doesn’t think so, but Jenn and Shelley do.
  • It’s odd that Grace is living in Spring City, OK by herself. What is she eating? We are split on whether the nanites are also talking to her. And will we see Peter soon?
  • We wondered about the pendants again. Do they still work? Tom asked David Rambo on Twitter about the power but he didn’t answer.
  • Mat Vairo really looks like David LyonsJoaquim de Almeida was in 12 episodes of season 3 of the show 24.
  • Since we’re pretty sure Miles is Charlie’s father, we speculated if Monroe knew that. He really did have a number of opportunities to tell Charlie and didn’t.
  • Monroe did act selflessly, but he is still selfish.
  • Monroe read Nunez correctly, because he is very similar in terms to the way he treats underlings.
  • How Rachel has acted in the last couple of episodes
  • Gene, Charlie and the quarantine camp. Shelley called this last episode with the Patriots poisoning the people in the oranges.
  • Jenn and Shelley talking about whether the patriots are culling. If the soldiers don’t get sick, won’t the people figure this out?
  • We talked about whether we should consider not watching the previews for the following episode. They’ve been giving away a lot of the story.
  • Jason doesn’t seem to have the cunning and skill as either Neville or Julia. They talked about Jason a lot in this week’s Revolution Revealed.
  • We talked about the power dynamic between Julia and Neville. Before the blackout, Neville was a meek insurance adjuster, and probably changed when he killed his neighbor for breaking into their house shortly after the blackout.
  • Shelley recognizes that Neville was probably bullied when young, and now he is the bully. Shelley and Jenn talked about bullying and school shootings. Shelley recommends people look anti-bullying websites from the US and Canada, or check out the documentary Bully.
  • Rob likes the science fiction story of the nanites gaining consciousness.
  • Rob thinks Grace can get the nanites to get woodland animals to farm for her.
  • Tom and Rob discussed typhus and typhoid in Scientific Revolution. Tom found this blog entry called “When Typhus, Cholera and Typhoid Hit Your Neighborhood Blame The Government” and they are not even talking about NBC Revolution.
  • We still don’t really know what Julia and Neville’s plan is.
  • Rob thinks the nanites are going to be the top plot point for the rest of this season. It would be cool if more people (or everyone) started seeing visions brought on by the nanites.

We played a voicemail from Tremond about Dr. Horn, and how he was not revealing his real motive in trying to understand the nanites. Jenn wonders how much Dr. Horn told Truman and the other Patriots about the nanites.

We read an email from Clarice in Colorado about the Texas Ranger’s comment that the Texans have 70% of their troops at their southern border. That’s strange since we’ve seen some of that border now.

We read and commented on an email from Irmhild about the relationship between Miles and Monroe. She also agrees with us that we don’t want Monroe and Charlie to get together. Jenn threw out Charlie and Connor as a possible couple.

We’d like your feedback. Call and leave a voicemail at:

038 Revolution Fan Podcast – The Three Amigos

S02E10-The-Three-AmigosIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn and Shelley talk about Revolution season 2, episode 10, The Three Amigos. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journal, and talk about next week’s episode.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • How we have four separate groups now with four different stories to follow
  • Jenn is really annoyed with Aaron lately as we is not acting grown up. Hasn’t he learned his lesson about leaving everyone at night with just a note
  • We reviewed the last time we saw Grace to clear things up for people who were confused on Twitter
  • The NBC Revolution website had two interim Aaron’s Journal episodes during the break. The first was called Cynthia, and the second called Fireflies
  • This week’s Aaron’s Journal, Dying in Willoughby was about how he thought his remains would end up near Willoughby, but now he’ll have to find another final resting place.
  • The third orange wagon being a day behind was very convenient for Jenn and Shelley.podcast-150x150
  • Gene’s coming to grips with what Charlie has turned into, killer-wise
  • We speculated what and why the Patriots are injecting stuff into the oranges. Is this another drug they can miraculously heal?
  • We read Rob’s comment about Neville, how this is the most fun story to watch
  • We talked about the interplay of Neville and Julia, and tried to figure out exactly what she wants
  • We speculated what was in Allenford’s file that Jason was able to read. Jenn had some good ideas. What was in Allenford’s case?
  • They healed Miles in just 2 or 3 screen minutes, using a butter knife and maggots. But we needed Miles to be conscious as soon as possible.
  • Jenn thinks Miles didn’t expect to find Connor, but Tom and Shelley did. No one expected the town to be as it was
  • Jenn felt the Mexico border irony was a little too thick
  • On this week’s Revolution Revealed, we talked about Monroe as comic relief.
  • We talked about Connor’s town, how Connor turned out, and the meeting scene, and the great casting
  • Monroe’s message was a little strange: You need to be in charge of more hoodlums
  • Jenn and Shelley speculate on what will happen when Monroe comes back to the US. Will Connor come?
  • In this week’s Kill Count, Charlie killed 4 and Neville killed 1. Shelley pointed out Charlie’s line from our Kill Count bumper that came from Season 1, Episode 2: “So, you’re just going to kill him in cold blood?” Charlie has come a long way.
  • We wonder about Nunez from the Nunez Cartel that has Monroe now.
  • The casting was really great again in finding an actor that looks like a young David Lyons. He also looks like John Mayer.

Next week’s episode is called Mis Dos Padres (my two fathers). It seems like Connor will have to struggle between Nunez as a father figure with his birth father that he is just meeting.

The following week’s episode is called Captain Trips, which excited Jenn and Shelley for another Stephen King reference. They think the stuff injected into the oranges is a super-flu like in The Stand. The last week of January’s episode is called Happy Endings, and that should take us to the Olympic break.

For Questions and Answers, we have questions on what was in the file that Jason read, and what are they putting in the oranges.  We have a long-awaited answer about Emma’s son from Season 1, Episode 15. We finished up talking about the largest balls of twine.

037 Revolution Fan Podcast – Everyone Says I Love You

S02E09-Everyone-Says-I-Love-YouIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn and Shelley talk about the Revolution mid-season finale, season 2, episode 9, Everyone Says I Love You. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journal, and read and talk about your feedback.

We started by reading a couple of feedback emails from Juan Soros. He throws out a narrative that Roger Allenford can use that makes him look better after he killed Justine but also uses Neville. It works, but it turns out they skipped over this whole point in the new episode. Juan also sent in another email seconding Jenn’s nanite “Aaron Daddy” theory.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • Jenn’s Aaron Daddy theory seems to be correct, as Kevin even said that.podcast-150x150
  • Jenn thinks it is interesting it chose a 3rd grader to represent itself because it is like a child and it is growing. Jenn thinks Kevin was like Lore from Star Trek: TNG
  • In the scene where Kevin says, “They’re here” Jenn was reminded of Poltergeist. The Haley Joel reference reminded Jenn and Shelley of A.I. and The Sixth Sense.
  • We talk a little about all the new things the nanites did in this episode like creating the fog and having Aaron pick up Cynthia, escape, and make it all the way to the high school without consciously realizing it.
  • A lot of folks
  • We talked about who said “I love you” in this episode. Miles said “I don’t love you”
  • Jenn thought it was weird that Neville and Julia hopped in the sack immediately and then only asked about Jason after.
  • It’s also interesting that Neville immediately is in with the plan where Julia is married to her Patriot husband.
  • Neville’s whole mission seems to be changed now. He doesn’t need to bring down the Patriots anymore for revenge; he can focus on getting as much power as possible. It was also be weird if Team Miles goes against Patriot high command and Neville is there.
  • We bring up the possibility that Julia has been a Patriot for a long time. Do we believe her story? Tom does but Jenn and Shelley now think she has been a Patriot since the Monroe Republic time.
  • It’s very strange that Kevin mentions the city in Oklahoma twice with the second largest ball of twine. Is this a shout-out to National Lampoon’s Vacation?
  • Aaron definitely didn’t handle the relationship with Kevin best when he asks Kevin to go away. Jenn and Shelley thinks he should have tried to explain about thoughts, emotions and be able to use Kevin.
  • “Kill him” was OK but “Kill them all” was a bit much. Tom completely understands everything Aaron did up through “Kill him” but then would go straight to “could you please heal her?”
  • We think Kevin will come back. Tom thinks Kevin might still heal Cynthia, but Shelley thinks she is gone for good.
  • The Miles / Rachel flashback happening six years before the blackout really opens up the door that Miles is Charlie’s father. Charlie was five at the time of the blackout. Also, Charlie has traits of Rachel and of Miles and not of Ben.
  • We think Miles is definitely Charlie’s father. We don’t know if Miles knows. We’re not even sure if Rachel knows.
  • “We’ve got to stop doing this” definitely changes from when Rachel said they had an “ugly fling” when they were kids in episode 11.
  • Tom thinks Kevin will heal Kevin, but Jenn and Shelley think Monroe will lead the team to get Gene to save him
  • “Kill them all” must not have extended to Willoughby because we didn’t see Truman die.
  • We like the “I’m Batman” line. On #PowerHalfHour it was revealed that Eric Kripke wrote that line.
  • In Revolution Revealed this week, they point out how Miles realizes that Aaron is important. We had thought that the critical point was at the Tower when Aaron’s terminal freaked out, and not when Aaron turned the power back on. Aaron failed a test. Was it because he chose death over life.
  • We talked about some of Rob’s notes about the episode. He liked the way Elizabeth Mitchell played it when she said “We may die tomorrow.” He also thought the first half made it seem like it might play out like a ghost story. He liked it when Neville mentioned “skeletons in the closet.”
  • Aaron’s Journal this week is a guest entry from Dr. Horn called A Small-Minded Man. Aaron left his journal when he fled Willoughby. Dr. Horn read it and then wrote the entry.
  • In terms of Kill Count, Jenn and Shelley made a ruling that Aaron gets credit for these kills but not for the ones before. The previous ones were Kevin’s kills.

Revolution will return on Wednesday, January 8th, so we have seven weeks until our next episode. There will be at least two weeks of a break for the Olympics.

We mentioned a tweet from Michelle Roberts about Rachel getting the dog whistle from the Patriot guy that Miles torturing last week.

We read an email from Yassmina from Sacramento about the man Julia chose to marry and her ulterior motives,

We read an email from Rob Kearney. He said the characters line up with a Dungeons and Dragons story. He also asks why Team Miles didn’t just kill all the Patriots when they were passed out.

We got a lot of Answers this week. Tom will update the Questions and Answers page over the break.

We talked a little more about Kevin and him coming back, and more about Aaron’s mistakes with regard to Kevin.

The next episode is called Three Amigos. We speculate to whom that refers. We think Monroe, Rachel and Charlie. But it could be a bunch of other options. Tom and Shelley think Aaron will make his way to Oklahoma.

If you need another podcast to listen to during the break, check out Tom’s music podcast Making My Own Music about composing, arranging and recording original music.

036 Revolution Fan Podcast – Come Blow Your Horn

S02E08-Come-Blow-Your-HornIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn and Rob talk about Revolution season 2, episode 8, Cone Blow Your Horn. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journal, and talk a little bit about next week’s episode.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • There wasn’t any real payoff to the gas bomb, as it was never dropped
  • Jenn liked the scene with Rachel “cooking” with Charlie
  • Did they hold on to the dog whistle in their “inventory” from The Plague Dogs in season 1? Is their inventory like a video game?
  • We aside into the history of toilet paper
  • podcast-150x150It seems like it was a good setup episode for something bigger next week
  • Jenn was amused by the scene where team Miles captured Gene
  • We talked about which episodes so far this season we liked the best
  • Rob hoped for some action, and not just dialogue regarding Charlie and Rachel’s different feelings regarding Gene
  • Gene explained the cholera, vaccine, and how he got where he was. “You’ve never done a bad thing for a good reason?” was a great question to ask Rachel and Miles
  • Tom and Jenn were disappointed that Aaron did not explain to Cynthia that he did not know he killed Carl. He also didn’t kill him so that he could get together with her.
  • Jenn urges all men to communicate better with their partners. Tom wonders why Cynthia didn’t just read Aaron’s journal. 🙂
  • This week’s Aaron’s Journal is called A Monster Among Us.
  • Monroe killed five people, but then took off when he realized he couldn’t get all the others and they would kill him
  • Jenn was disappointed by Horn’s backstory, and that it was predictable. That and the brain tumor make him less of a “great” villain
  • In the very beginning when Miles was torturing the Patriot for intel, Rob thinks Rachel was like a frontier wife
  • We talked about the deleted scene where Miles and Rachel kiss. The fans demanded it, so they released the cut scene. Since they cut it, we decide it is not canon
  • The Neville scenes were in Glendon, NC. From Savanah, GA it is about 300 miles and 96 hours of walking
  • Jenn is puzzled by Neville’s plan. It was clear that Roger was going to shoot Justine, so Jenn thinks Neville has no influence anymore. Turning her in would probably have been better.
  • The Patriot’s plan of taking the continent city by city really is not a great plan
  • We went back to think about Randall and why it took 15 years to get the power back on and launch the nuclear bombs. We reviewed Randall’s plan for Grace from episode 8, Ties That Bind which was just to get the elevator working.
  • Jenn thinks Miles should have gotten some antibiotics from Gene for his wounded hand
  • For Kill Count, Monroe kills five. Monroe is still on a good consecutive episode killing streak. Miles, Charlie and Rachel are on a killing slump having not killed for a good number of episodes.
  • Since they stab Cynthia is the liver, they just have the one shot to use Cynthia for Horn’s testing. They could have hurt her instead of trying to kill her
  • It’s cool that the fire is “borrowed” from the wall-torch instead of generating new fire

We talked about the preview for next week’s episode, Everyone Says I Love You. The words on the screen said: “Next week / the mystery / behind the power / will be revealed.” On Revolution Revealed executive producer Rockne S. O’Banion says next week the “nano reveals itself to us.” Is there some artificial intelligence now?

We talked about the scheduling. Next week is a mid-season finale and there will be a break. Paul Grellong confirmed on Twitter that they are coming back in early January and that they still have 22 episodes this season.

Tom is considering creating a page that documents a timeline of all the flashbacks so we can keep stuff straight.

035 Revolution Fan Podcast – The Patriot Act

S01E07-The-Patriot-ActIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn, Shelley and Rob talk about the Revolution season 2, episode 7, The Patriot Act. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journal, and talk a little bit about next week’s episode.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • How a lot of stuff was telegraphed to us: That Monroe was alive, that Gene was a Patriot, and Aaron was going to set people on fire.
  • We liked Gene’s flashbacks, and we can see why he made his decisions and got backed into the corner he’s in. The Patriots came in at Gene’s lowest point after Gene’s wife died of cholera.
  • Dr. Horn has a creepy crush on Rachelpodcast-150x150
  • Shelley liked how Dr. Horn, Gene and so on are talking openly about the nanites
  • On Revolution Revealed, they talked a lot about how the characters have a bad choice and a worse one. They also talked about the pitch meeting when someone proposed Gene was a Patriot, and how they felt led them to definitely moving that way.
  • In Aaron’s Journal this week, Aaron wrote that he saw the triangle/circle image in his nightmares.
  • We were right about Rachel’s motivation for saving Monroe – Miles and Charlie convinced her he was necessary and helpful
  • Finding out Gene was a Patriot hit Rachel really hard. Jenn says it’s like another death – another large loss in her life
  • Cynthia’s reaction was interesting. Will she draw the parallel that Aaron was responsible for her husband’s death? Instead of miracles, will she think he is the devil now?
  • Neville knocking out and handcuffing Allenford was an interesting plot twist
  • We can’t be 100% sure that Jason can be trusted
  • We like the Miles and Monroe interaction. It’s good as we didn’t get that much last season
  • We talk about Dr. Horn as a “big bad,” and the relation to the other bad characters – Monroe, Randall and Neville

In next week’s episode, Rachel creates a poisonous gas mixture to attempt to kill Dr. Horn and other Patriots. Gene may have to be killed as well. Jenn thinks Gene will die but Dr. Horn will escape. Jenn also thinks we are leaving Willoughby very soon.

034 Revolution Fan Podcast – Dead Man Walking

S02E06-Dead-Man-WalkingIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn, Shelley and Rob talk about the Revolution season 2, episode 6, Dead Man Walking. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journal, and we read and talk about your feedback.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • Last week’s “spoiler” of a “major, major death” which Jenn says is a lie
  • What were the three bombshells? On Revolution Revealed this week, they called Miles’ secret a bombshell and Gene’s betrayal as a bombshell. The other one was either Monroe’s backstory of the wife/child dying or Rachel’s digging.
  • Jenn and Shelley are sure Monroe is not dead. On Revolution Revealed, they say “We don’t know why she’s digging. Whatever reasons we think, there are a lot of surprises in store.” It seems it has to be more than just Monroe’s not deadpodcast-150x150
  • Jenn thinks Gene was fooled by Monroe’s pulse and actually thought he was dead: he’s definitely a Patriot. Shelley is not convinced.
  • Jenn made a great point about Rachel’s tipping off the Patriots about the potential jailbreak: She did to protect Charlie and Miles from danger if they got caught. Putting that together with injecting Monroe with something else and digging him up is a full plan to keep everyone safe and still have Monroe for your side.
  • We disagree a little on whether Gene told the Patriots about the Ranger Fry death and frame-up. Jenn says arresting, sentencing and executing Monroe is enough for them to stand together, where Texas and the Patriots can put their name on it
  • Monroe’s flashbacks were sad and helped explain how he got pushed over the edge a little bit
  • We reviewed the Miles / Monroe blackout history. Miles kills the first people six weeks after the blackout to protect others. This happens three years after the blackout. Five years after is the Trenton Campaign where they are up against other militias. Seven years after was when Rachel turned herself in. Eleven years after was when Miles tried to kill Monroe and left.
  • We talked about Miles’ secret that he knew about Monroe and Emma’s son. We wonder when Miles found out Emma told him, but we think it was later in the timeline
  • Debbie Pyle made a great call in her prediction that Gene was a Patriot. Jenn agrees it is an interesting twist but she is not happy about it.
  • Tom appreciates the shots of the nighttime sky with lots of stars. After a worldwide blackout we would go back to being able to see a clear sky without light pollution.
  • We talk about how Aaron saw the circle / triangle logo that turned out to be on Dr. Horn’s wagon. Did he have a vision of it?
  • We talk about Bonnie Webster, from General Carver’s press corps in Austin. We’d like to see her again
  • The treaty between Texas and the Patriots is strange. What’s up with Texas?
  • Jason is a deadly killer, due in part to the pharmaceuticals. This technique is common in science fiction/fantasy. We talk about the comfort we feel when drama follows “predicable” patterns that we recognize.
  • Allenford said her son went through the same training program. Her husband is also high up with the Patriots.
  • Tom realizes that we haven’t really learned that much yet about the Patriots with regard to Cuba, Washington D.C. and what they are all about.
  • Jason telling Neville about Julia’s affair was a “wow” moment. We talk about Jason’s motivation and the writers’ motivation. Does this lead the way more for Neville to try to get together with Allenford.
  • Gene’s threat about Dr. Horn is also strange. In Revolution Revealed, they say Dr. Horn is the most dangerous Patriot.

Aaron’s Journal this week talks about his memories of the Monroe Republic, when he first heard them, first paid taxes, first heard about the stories, and what happened when they didn’t pay their taxes.

We talked about the preview for next week, The Patriot Act. Dr. Horn is interested in Aaron, and it looks like Aaron has to use his fire power to save himself.

It looks like we have three more Wednesday episodes leading up to the week of Thanksgiving. We don’t think there’ll be an episode on the day before Thanksgiving.

We read an email from Debbie Pyle. She had good points about all the aspects of the episode. She asks whether Monroe passed anything to Miles when they shook hands. Shelley agrees with this.

Neville and Monroe had kills this week. Miles, Charlie and Rachel were calm in the town, making it a low Kill Count episode.

We speculated some about Dr. Horn. We launched into a discussion of Randall and the Patriots communication. Tom thinks Randall was able to talk with the Patriots and tell them a lot about the nanites, Rachel and Aaron and their expedition. Jenn thinks it might have been ham radio.

033 Revolution Fan Podcast – One Riot, One Ranger

S02E05-One-Riot-One-RangerIn this episode of Revolution Fan Podcast, Tom, Jenn, Shelley and Rob talk about the Revolution season 2, episode 5, One Riot, One Ranger. We talk about Revolution Revealed, Aaron’s Journal, and we listen to, read, and talk about your feedback.

We started with an email from Debbie Pyle. She brought up good points and theories. She wonders if Gene (Rachel’s Dad) could be an underground Patriot. Shelley and Jenn talk about the writers’ head canon.

In this week’s discussion of the episode, we talk about:

  • Aaron’s flashbacks of his teaching interview, Cynthia’s husband Carl, and having his Firestarter powers five months ago. The fireflies were connected to him much longer than we thought.
  • Rob says the nanites are like Monroe in terms of flying off the handle with sharp emotions
  • podcast-150x150Tom and Shelley think Aaron got his powers at the moment when his computer shut down at the Tower. Jenn relates fire to the nuclear bombs dropping and having people be vaporized and burned.
  • Shelley talks about how Carl is a bully just like the ones that beat up on Aaron in school
  • Jenn says Aaron is on the verge of losing control. He attempted to leave just like he did from Priscilla
  • Even if Aaron leaves, he still may have visions of Team Miles and may still be able to set people on fire remotely
  • Jenn brings up Firestarter. Aaron mentions this in his Journal Entry this week. He also talks about six superpowers he would rather have.
  • We talk about a deleted scene with guest start Zeljko Ivanek.
  • We talked about Jim Beaver who played Texas Ranger John Fry. We played a clip from this week’s Revolution Revealed where he mentions that in Eric Kripke’s works he might be able to come back.
  • The scenes with Neville and Secretary Allenford. Jenn wondered and wonders if Neville will try to seduce her to get farther in his plans.
  • The Patriots’ recruiting is just like the Monroe Republic’s. Jenn says that people have done this to flesh out their armies for a long time
  • Neville has two goals now: taking down the Patriots, and rescuing Jason. If he had to have a choice, Jenn and Shelley think he would sacrifice Jason, although they don’t think it will come down to that
  • Neville’s wife Julia, as a strong woman, is like Secretary Allenford
  • We talked about Charlie and Miles’ bonding over the last year and a half
  • The Miles and Monroe reunion, and returning to the “pit of evil death.” In 11 years of building the Monroe Republic they built a lot of shorthand (“You’re just naming cities!”)
  • Jenn thinks the Rachel and Monroe reunion was fun, but Rachel didn’t even give Charlie a moment to explain why she brought him.
  • Monroe doesn’t see the difference between his solution for “Patriot proof” and finding another way. Whenever we start to feel for Monroe, we need to remember that this is his essence.
  • We talked about Texas’ south border. Is there a problem with people coming from Mexico?

We talked about the preview for next week where Monroe is arrested and sentenced. In Revolution Revealed, David Rambo mentions incredible reunions next week. We guess than we probably have a Neville/Jason reunion, but think we might see Julia, Monroe’s son, Priscilla, Grace, or Nora’s sister.

We played a voicemail from Todd in North Carolina. Jenn thinks Miles was the comic relief this episode. Todd also suggested “the singularity” as the cause of the blackout.

We read an email from Debbie Pyle. She suggested that Cynthia may also be an underground Patriot. We talked again about Texas’ southern border, and what is the Patriots’ goal with regards to Texas.

Tom mentioned his songs and his Making My Own Music podcast.
